During her childhood life, she was living with her mother and step-father-” dad” who abused her physically and could not allow her to go to school. Here is what she said:
“My step- dad hated me. He would beat me up and my mama wasn’t spared the beatings either. I wasn’t enrolled in school at all. I was required to do the housework and I was barely a child myself. I would cook, fetch water and firewood while taking care of my siblings. I had never worn shoes.”
After all these bad experiences in her life, she was brought in Nairobi to live with her biological father and unfortunately the step mother started mistreating her too. The situation in that home became more complicated and unbearable. This made her dad divorce with his wife and he vowed never to marry again.
Since then, the two have lived happily together even after the unfortunate death of her biological mother, which occurred a month after she came to Nairobi to live with her biological father.
