6 Signs that You Are Definitely in Love

Researchers are of the opinion that love is embedded more in our brains than in our hearts. In fact, various studies and researches have taken place to analyse the way lovers behave, and to find out what can be seen as some definite signs of being in love. We decided to look into these studies, and got some scientifically proven ways for you to know, if you are in love or not.

#1. Beloved takes “centre stage”
When you are really in love, your beloved becomes the most special person in your life. No other person can draw the same passion from you as them. Scientists believe that this is due to the increased levels of a chemical in the brain called dopamine, which is responsible for your single-minded focus on your lover. Also, studies have shown that people in love begin to idolise their beloved. So, this is another way to tell you that this is love, and not just infatuation. Simply speaking, you are completely smitten by them, and everything about and around them!
#2. Emotional extremes
Lovers often experience extreme emotions. While on one hand there is exhilaration, heightened energy, sleeplessness, euphoria, loss of appetite, fast breathing, on the other hand there are also feelings of anxiety, panic and despair whenever the relationship suffers any setback. You blush and get flustered in the presence of your beau. Studies have found that such behaviour is akin to that of drug addicts. In fact, when couples were shown pictures of their partners, it stimulated the same parts in the brain, which gets activated when an addict consumes drugs. So, love is a form of addiction that wreaks havoc on your mood, and that is how you know that it is love!
#3. Obsessive behaviour
It has been found that people in love spend around 85 per cent of their waking hours thinking of their beloved. This kind of obsessive behaviour might be the result of low levels of serotonin production in the brain. The same effect is seen in people who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder. This might explain why you can’t seem to keep them off your mind.
#4. Desire to be together emotionally
While the desire for lovemaking is normal among people who are attracted to each other, this is not “the most important thing” for those in love. In many studies, a sizeable percentage of lovers have confessed that emotional union is far more important to them than a physical connection. Apart from that, if you also just want to stay around that person all the time, then it is a sign that the cupid has taken its shot at you!
#5. Overwhelming emotions for them
When in love, people have powerful feelings for their beloved. They experience the emotions of their partner as their own, and are ready to do anything for the other person. Also, people in love exhibit a wide range of emotions, including jealousy, possessiveness, fear of rejection and separation. Whatever way you can make them happy, and lessen their pain, you will try it out; and if you have done that for your special someone, then you are definitely in love!
#6. You want to change for good
You start thinking about things that they like, and you try to change yourself accordingly. Yes, if you thought that this is just a thing that is only backed by romantic novels and movies, then you are wrong. Even science has shown that people in love, tend to change their habits, mannerisms, likes and dislikes, and behaviour to make it more aligned with their prince charming or dream girl. So, if you have started to think about the colour they would like to see on you, or things they would like you to do, then it is a sign that you are in love!
