Nakuru witchdoctor makes robbery suspect ‘eat’ grass

Residents of Nyakinyua village in Subukia sub-county woke up to a rude shock after a suspected thief started feeding on grass.
The person behind the bizarre incident was Margaret Musimbi, who said she opted to look for help from a witchdoctor after losing property worth more than Sh200,000 through theft once police failed to arrest the suspect.
She said thieves raided her home and made away with her construction materials worth more than Sh10,000 but officers at the Solai administration police post and Kirengero police station where she reported the matter failed to resolve the problem.
Musimbi, who works in Nairobi, added that she was forced to use unconventional means after the robbers made away with her entire household goods worth 200,000 in June 2014 without a trace. She allegedly reported the matter at Kirengero police station on July 3 but no arrests were made.
“It is not the first time they have stolen from me. Each time I have tried to follow legal procedures but it has not worked so I decided to go for a witchdoctor to try and find out who these people are,” said Musimbi.
She explained that the witchdoctor told her to wait for about two hours before the effects of the ritual could be felt. Allegedly, hardly had 30 minutes passed before the first suspect started behaving strangely and then begun eating grass before becoming unconscious.
Musimbi disclosed that the suspect, Moses Tolonto, was one of her workers who was in charge of taking care of her compound while she was away.
Hundreds of residents thronged Musimbi’s compound to witness the shocking episode as some demanded to lynch the suspect. It took the intervention of Nyakinyua location elder Jeremiah Wainaina to cool down the flaring tempers.
The suspect’s father, Mzee Luka Likovele, blamed the act on bad influence and said his son spent most of his time in bad company. The witchdoctor demanded Sh35,000 for the suspect to be restored.
