Furious President Uhuru Kenyatta warns URP over excess greed and corruption

By Chris Maina
When news first filtered that Deputy President is among those who allegedly benefited from the Karen land saga – a scam that has opened the Jubilee regime to widespread opposition condemnation – a furious President Uhuru called in a group of his trusted loyalties and fumed about the increasing greed of the ‘URP side’.
The Da Gama land saga, which has consumed top echelons of the Uhuru regime, is said to be causing friction between the two parties. Publicly, President Uhuru does not want to appear to be fuelling the already messy scandal. He is protecting his regime from a wider CORD onslaught. But privately, multiple sources paint a figure of a furious man extremely offended by what he sees as attempts by his Deputy President’s men to taint his regime.
The office of the Deputy President, which is part of the ”presidency”, is the centre of a number of highly publicized corruption, wastage and embezzlement scandals which, fortunately, has been on the person of the Deputy President rather than the Jubilee regime. However, increasingly, most of those scandals are spilling over to taint the Uhuru regime, something the President has not taken lightly.
Uhuru is reported to have earlier in his presidency called his TNA side, especially Kikuyu leaders – MPs and Senators – and warned them of theft, corruption and embezzlement. To his credit, most of the TNA-allied regime politicians have not been accused of public plunder.
Until the sh. 15 billion OP scandal came about – a scandal which occurred during the transition – and cannot wholly be blamed on Uhuru, the office of the president under him has been ‘apparently clean’.
Last week, a furious Uhuru was quoted warning URP politicians.
